It’s getting to the point where there is nothing more reliably entertaining for me than Nic Cage movies. Even when you prepare yourself for how bad they’re going to be, he still manages to have a few tricks up his sleeve. The secret to keeping his stuff from not being bad in a frustrating way is that he’s always having a great time making drizzling shit and his hair always looks natural and super-sexy. Here Jay Baruchel joins in on the fun by delving into the knee deep crap whole hog and not caring that he’s completely unconvincing doing anything as well. And who cam blame him? I’d jump at the opportunity to be Nic Cage’s apprentice too. I’ve never seen a more realistically awkward dweeb thrown into more unrealistic situations. And I’m not talking about the magic stuff. This movie is absurd. Holy crap… Monica Bellucci?!?! One extra star!
