Kind of a typical thriller, but the well realized 50s Vietnam setting makes it a step more interesting than these sorts of films normally are. Plus it has a strong Michael Caine performance propping everything up. You can’t do much better than a strong Michael Caine performance. And Brendan Fraser even manages to do some acting here. That’s not something he attempts very often. Fine film, would watch again.

Short Round: The Quiet American (2002) ****/*****

That’s not something he attempts very often. Fine film, would watch again.
