There have been some changes in the way I'm using the web lately, which will be changing how this blog looks a bit. I want to make sure everybody knows where I stand.
First, let's look at the other sites that I've been writing for. I've been doing daily news for Film School Rejects for a while now, and I hope you've been checking it out. Not just because I'm writing there, but because there is a whole legion of other talented writers doing news, reviews, columns, lists, and what have you. It's a great place for film fans to hang out. Second, I've started to write for a lifestyle mag called Seattle Pulp as well. They've been mirroring my reviews, and I've been doing some trailer and home video write-ups for them as well. Because of new eyes on my stuff, I've been experimenting with formatting my reviews to be shorter. I like getting in depth with analysis on these things, but I feel like I need to cut back on the 2000+ word monsters that I've been throwing out to the public. That's a lot to ask of someone when it comes to reading a movie review. I'm still trying to get the hang of giving a movie a good going over, but not blathering on and on, so please bear with me while I get adjusted.
Next, I'll talk a bit about social media and the way I'm using it. I've recently created a profile on Google+, which I hope everybody follows me on. It's multiple means of use have inspired me to cut down on the amount of social media sites I've been drowning in. This means a few things. First, my personal Facebook profile is getting nuked, and my only means of interacting with that site will be through this blog's page. Anybody who wants to talk to me on Facebook, I hope goes there and likes it. Twitter, Twitter is staying the same for the moment. Tumblr I'm getting rid of, and it's going to change how this blog looks. I've been posting mini-reviews of movies that I randomly watch over at a blog called There Will Be Reviews, and in the interest of paring my services down, I've decided to move those over here. That means there's going to be more activity over here, and reviews of varying lengths. These new mini-reviews are going to just be a paragraph, with no page break, so I figured I needed to come up with a label so everybody knows what they're clicking on. I figure I'll start calling the mini-reviews Short Rounds, cuz why the hell not? All of these Short Rounds will be labeled as such in the post titles and filed away together in the Categories section of the side bar.
If you've read this far, why? But thank you. I didn't want to go changing things around without letting everyone know why.
