Interesting in places and propped up by great performances from the likes of Ryan Gosling, Kirsten Dunst, and Philip Baker Hall; but far too inconsistent to be considered a success. This thing is wildly inconsistent in content, in tone, in structure, and in pacing. What you’re left with looks more like a mess than anything else. I give it kudos for not being conventional, but in the end, it just didn’t work.

Short Round: All Good Things (2010) ***/*****
Interesting in places and propped up by great performances from the likes of Ryan Gosling, Kirsten Dunst, and Philip Baker Hall; but far too inconsistent to be considered a success. This thing is wildly inconsistent in content, in tone, in structure, and in pacing. What you’re left with looks more like a mess than anything else. I give it kudos for not being conventional, but in the end, it just didn’t work.
