This movie is so oppressively bleak that it should be no joy to watch, but filmed so beautifully that you sit transfixed by it for the whole runtime. It’s the most visceral, sensory look at what it must be like to live among trash, both human and literal, that you’re ever going to get without traveling to one of the world’s worst slums and diving in a pile. Like Gummo, but without the sensationalism, so it just kind of seeps into your pores instead of poking at you. And it’s weirdly sweet too. Watch it if you love photography or want to feel gross.
