It takes a special actor to convincingly play the smooth-talking-ladies-man-who-everyone-is-alway-instantly-charmed-by character; someone like a (Sir Matthew) McConaughey. I don’t buy it coming from Gyllenhaal, he’s too earnest and dopey. And Hathaway annoys me in that she always seems like she’s trying to impress with her performance rather than just live as her character. She needs to save her big emoting for the right projects. This wasn’t it. This was boring and cliche, and I didn’t care if the characters ended up together because neither was fun to watch. But, you know, boobs.
